The best bridesmaid dress EVER!!!

I have been a really bad blogger.  I have all sorts of excuses like I was in a wedding last week, I don't really blog on weekends, I have been busy, etc. None of those are really good excuses, well except for the wedding. Being a bridesmaid in a wedding is an acceptable excuse for not blogging, right?!? A couple weeks ago, I said I would blog about a surprise birthday party I planned, but I haven't gotten around to it yet. I promise I will (even if it is a month later)! But today, I want to talk about the A-freaking-MAZING bridesmaid dress I wore at the wedding. 

I was so thrilled and honored when Melissa asked me to be a bridesmaid in her wedding. Melissa was my first real friend here in California. We had both moved here from the Midwest around the same time and we formed an instant friendship. She was a bridesmaid in our wedding and I also had the privilege of being part of her and Ryan (her husband) getting together. More on that later, this is about the dress.

So... when she first told me how much the bridesmaid dress was going to cost, I about had a heart attack. Melissa said, "But.... you can style it over 15 different ways and I really think you'll be able to wear it again." We've all heard that right?!? I was skeptical about being able to wear it again and just how easy it would be to style this dress 15 different ways. After the order was placed, Melissa found out the dresses wouldn't be here until one week before the wedding. I worked in a formal wear store for over 5 years, so that totally stressed me out (I can only imagine how stressed she was). What if something was wrong with the dress? What if we needed alterations? The dresses arrived on October 26, exactly when scheduled and exactly one week before the wedding. I picked my dress up, brought it home and immediately started trying to style it. It was seriously SOOOOO easy! I did 5 different styles in 5 minutes. I could not believe how great the dress looked and how stinking easy it was. I planned to have the dress hemmed to right above the knee after the wedding and the best part about it is the sales associate said that since the dress is just spandex and there is no hem, you can just cut it off yourself! This is by far my most favorite bridesmaid dress EVER! There were 8 bridesmaids and we all had the dress styled at least a little different. This dress was TOTALLY worth the money. I'm honestly excited for the next time I can wear it.

Quick Update

I've been having so much fun spending time with my mom that I haven't had much time to blog. Sadly, she heads back to Missouri next Monday. I will be back to blog land full force then! For now, here's a little update on our recent endeavors. 

I got a new tattoo of my favorite bible verse

 We went shopping and I lusted over these TOMS! They are in my MIL's closet for Christmas. Too bad I can't wear them now! She said I can wear them one time this fall before going back in the box to get wrapped for Christmas. I just need to pick the perfect time to wear them.

Me, Myself & I

Yay for learning a little more about me! I know, I'm a huge dork. I just think this picture is hilarious! It was New Years Eve and I was super drunk excited!

1. What is your biggest phobia?

Bridges... well, the Bay bridge and the Richmond bridge actually.  Any bridge that is multi-level. A couple years ago, my friend Art flew my mom out here for a visit. On our way back from the airport, we had to drive over the Richmond bridge. I told my mom and Art that I hate being on the bottom level because I'm afraid if the top level fell down I would get squished. Art very politely said, "Honey, I think that would be the least of your worries." Which then made me laugh and laugh that instead of thinking of the huge drop down into the cold water, I thought of being squished. So maybe my phobia isn't really bridges, it's being squished.

2. If you could relive any day of your life, what would it be and why? 

I know it sounds cheesy, but I'm gonna have to say my wedding day. It was such a fun day filled with love, laughter, friends and family! Yes, things went wrong, but looking back on it now it was still a perfect day! 

3. If you could choose to stay a certain age forever, what would it be? 

 Honestly, there really isn't any age I would love to stay. There has been something that I have enjoyed about each year of my life and I look forward to seeing what the rest of my years have in store.  So far, I'm loving 30! 

4. Which celebrity do you get mistaken for?

Sophia Bush. A few years ago, I was out with some friends and my friend Chris told me I looked just like Sophia Bush from One Tree Hill. I had never seen One Tree Hill and had no idea who she was, so I started watching the show and got hooked. I'm so sad OTH is gone now.  Chris still calls me Sophia or Brooke Davis.

Wedding Photos by Kristy Ahumada

We got our wedding pictures last week and we are so pleased with the way they turned out! Kristy and her assistant Andrea did an amazing job capturing all the special moments of our big day! I am so excited that we have found such a great photographer. We will definitely be using Kristy for all of our professional portraits.
