Weekend Update

Is it really Monday again already?! Boooooo!!!!

This weekend was such a great weekend! I am so sad it had to end!!!

Friday, we went to Wasabi Cafe with some of our favorite people, Sheyla and Brian. We filled ourselves full of sushi and thai food, drank way too much a little wine and toasted to Maash Boutique having over 300 followers on FB. Speaking of Maash Boutique, if you don't like this boutique on FB you totally should! Such cute stuff and very affordable!
We always have such a great time with Sheyla and Brian and always look forward to the next time we all get to hang out.
 It's a Bri-mance
Love her!!!

Saturday, I stopped by Maash to do a little shopping then Brian and I headed to Costco to pick up some things. That night, we made a seafood feast of lobster, shrimp, scallops and veggies. It was soooooo good and less than half the price we would have spent going to a restaurant (thank you Costco). I love date nights at home!!!

Sunday, we went to Brian's nephews 11th birthday party. It was supposed to be a pool party, but Mother Nature decided it should only be about 65. Of course, the kids still got in the pool and had a blast. I, on the other hand, pretended I was 10 years old again and had too much fun doing back handsprings and tucks on the trampoline. Note to self: You are not 10 years old anymore, you will be VERY sore the next day!!!

I hope you all had a great weekend too!!!

The return of The Bachelor

I've willingly admitted that I love reality TV, I'm not ashamed! I watched The Bachelor the first few seasons and watched Trista's season of The Bachelorette and then for some reason I just stopped watching. I started watching again on Jason's season where the douche picked adorable Melissa and then dumped her for Molly. I've watched every season of The Bachelor and The Bachelorette since. Now, I look forward to every Monday night. A hot guy, drama filled women and a few glasses of wine is my idea of a great night!

Source: examiner

I really liked Sean on Emily's season. I thought he was super cute and soooo sweet! So, I was pretty excited when I heard he was going to be the new bachelor.

The first episode did not disappoint with crazy women! A girl in a wedding dress (who was sadly named Lindsay, I'm embarrassed to share her name), a 50 Shades of Crazy, a way too tanned girl who wrote a song for Sean, a girl who tried to impress him with her gymnastic abilities and completely failed, and MANY more!

I knew from the previews and magazine articles that someone from a previous season would be on this season and I was excited when I saw it was Kacie B. I think she's adorable! I think it's hilarious that all the girls got their panties in a bunch because there was someone from a previous season. They were all saying she already had her chance. Do they not realize how stupid they sound? Did Sean not have his chance already with Emily? And we all know that those same girls that were saying things like that would jump at the chance to be The Bachelorette or be on Bachelor Pad.

Was anyone else a little disappointed he gave Tierra the first rose? It's obvious she's going to be so catty and full of drama. I'm not sure what he saw in her over the other girls. I did like the way he changed it up and started giving out roses before the rose ceremony. Why wait?

From the previews at the end of last nights episode, it looks like this is going to be a good season!

Update

Hello blog world!!! It's been awhile! I may be sporadically posting for awhile my mom is here. We've been having some fun times already and have three more weeks of fun times ahead!!! Here's a day-by-day update of the fun we've been having!

Tuesday: I ran a bunch of last minute errands to get ready for mom's arrival. While I was in the car listening to the radio, I heard they were giving away tickets to see Rascal Flatts, Little Big Town, Eli Young Band and Eden's Edge. I NEVER win these things, but I thought I might as well give it a try and make the call. The first time I dialed the number it was busy. The second time they answered!!! I won two tickets to the concert! My mom and I both LOVE Little Big Town. I may or may not have seen them in concert five times already. So, I went to the radio station and picked up the tickets and then Jeremy and I headed to the airport to pick mom up. Boy was she surprised when I showed her the concert tickets. We headed to In-n-Out Burger for dinner and then came home to relax and have a glass of wine.

Wednesday: Mom and I hung out around the house most of the day. That evening, we went across the street for pizza and beer to celebrate our anniversary.

Thursday: We decided to go to our local grocery store Raley's for wine night. Every Thursday, they have a wine tasting for $3. For $3 you get to try a bunch of different wines and they have appetizers. This week, they threw a bridal shower for one of the employees I'm friends with. It was really fun!

Friday: Mom and I headed to Trader Joe's to pick up some flowers for my friend Lacey for her last day of work. We stopped at Starbucks and got Lacey and Dianna a fun drink. Lacey was super surprised! Then mom and I headed to Olive Garden for a yummy lunch! Friday evening, we lounged around the house and geared up for our BBQ on Saturday.

Saturday: I baked cookies and made deviled eggs to get ready for our BBQ. My in-laws came over around 5 and I made pina coladas for everyone. Around 6, Lacey and Jorge got here and the guys started the BBQ. Dianna and Julio got here just in time to eat. After dinner, us girls set around chatting and the guys played poker. Somehow we decided to play flip cup and that definitely got the party started. After that, we played three man. We stayed up until 3 AM. I think we all thought we were in college again. It sure was a blast!!!

Sunday: We all slept in and then got up and headed to Santa Rosa to try out Five Guys. It was delicious! We went to Costco and CVS and then came home and lounged. We were all tuckered out from Saturday's activities.

It has been a great almost week and I'm looking forward to the next three weeks!

Sweet & Salty

Yesterday, Aunt Flo and her buddy Cramps decided to show up a few days early. I was NOT ready for them. And by not ready, I mean I had nothing sweet (at least nothing that sounded good) to eat and no cheap wine.

*Jeremy just came in the room and our conversation went a little like this: Jeremy - "Are you blogging?" Me - "yep" Jeremy - "Are you blogging about my toots?" Me (laughing) - "Yep" Jeremy - "My big, scary ones?" Me (laughing harder) - "Yep" Jeremy - "Oooh, I want to read it later!". Mind you, Jeremy is my 35 year old husband, not some 4 year old boy. So, here you go Jeremy, I blogged about your toots.*

I sent Jeremy a text that said, "I want something sweet to eat and wine. Yes, definitely wine. And something sweet. And wine!" Is it obvious that I wanted something sweet and WINE? I don't know about you, but for at least the first two days of my period, I want to eat everything in sight! Usually the things that sound the best are something sweet with something salty to go along with it. And wine, we can't forget the wine. I say it helps my cramps. Too be honest, it probably just makes me forget I have cramps. Either way, it works!

Anyway, I took a trip to the store to get some cheap wine and to find something to curb my sweet tooth. I scanned the cookie aisle and nothing jumped right off the shelf and screamed BUY ME! So, I came home and baked myself some cookies. Not just any cookies, the PERFECT cookies! I say these cookies are perfect because they are both sweet and salty! Two birds killed with one stone, BAM! And, I don't like birds, so the less stones I have to use the better! So, I decided to share this wonderfully, perfect cookie recipe with you.

Ingredients

1/2 cup (1 stick) of butter, softened
1 cup light brown sugar
3 tablespoons granulated sugar
1 large egg
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup chopped pretzels
3/4 cup chocolate chips
3/4 cup peanut butter chips
sea salt

1. Preheat oven to 350
2. In a medium bowl, sift together flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt
3. In a large bowl, beat the butter and sugars until fluffy (approximately 30 seconds). Add the egg and vanilla extract and beat until all combined
4. Slowly add in the flour mixture and beat until well mixed
5. Add in the pretzel and chocolate/peanut butter chips and stir until mixed
6. Scoop out well rounded tablespoons of the dough onto a greased cookie sheet and then gently press the dough with the back of the spoon to flatten. Place flattened dough about 1 inch apart and then sprinkle with sea salt.
7. Bake approximately 12-14 minutes or until the edges are nicely browned.
 8. Remove from oven and let cool on the pan for a couple minutes then transfer to cooling rack
9. ENJOY!!!

Goodbye sweet and salty craving! Just try not to eat too many! If it's that time of the month, Aunt Flo says it's ok to eat as many as you want and go ahead and finish off that bottle of wine.
I don't know if it was the cookies or the wine (probably the wine), but I had a dream last night that I met Johnny Depp in Vegas and I asked him to take a picture with me to send to my mom. He said sure and we proceeded to have a little photo shoot complete with kissy face pictures. Who doesn't want a kissy face picture with Johnny Depp?!? Too bad it was just a dream!

Don't forget to enter the giveaway for a custom canvas, $20 store credit to adie's lovelies and a green and purple pattern makeup/jewelry pouch here.

Favorite Things July Edition

Can you believe it's the last day of July?!? Me neither! I'm not one to wish away summer, but..... I CAN'T WAIT FOR SEPTEMBER. Why can't I wait for September? Because my momma will be here for the WHOLE month!

Today, I am linking up with the beautiful Ashley from Dancing with Ashley for her monthly favorite things.

1. Getting to spend time with this girl
If you've been following my blog for awhile, you will know that I absolutely LOVE my sister-in-law! My brother-in-law and sister-in-law came for a visit a couple of weeks ago and we had almost four days full of Bitzer family fun. It was such a great weekend!

2. Wine nights with the girls
I think we can all agree that ladies nights are the BEST! This girls night was spent eating yummy food, drinking yummy wine and listening to amazing live music. Complete with a toast to Channing Tatum, Melissa asking the bartender who his man crush was, me trying to get the singer to serenade me and me telling the bartender he looked like a woodsman/lumberjack and he needed an axe.

3. Boy Meets World on MTV2
Who didn't love Boy Meets World? Watching this reminds me of T.G.I.F. on Friday nights when I was in Junior High and High School. Please tell me you remember this. How can you not love Cory and Topanga?

4. Big floppy hats and headwraps

Big floppy hats are perfect for keeping the sun out of your face on a gorgeous sunny day and headwraps are perfect for the days you don't wash your hair (and the days you do wash your hair, they are just perfect). Add a little dry shampoo, put on the headwrap and voila... instant cute hairdo.

6. The Sonoma County Fair
Every summer since I moved here we have gone to the fair. We get there around 11 AM and have our first round of food (turkey kabobs and roasted corn on the cob), then we walk around for awhile seeing all the animals, silly stuff they sell, etc and then we finish with another round of food (corn dogs and a huge brick of curly fries). My stomach hates me the next day, but it is sooooo worth it!

Head on over and say hi to Ashley and get your link-up on!

Weekend Update

Today, I'm linking up for weekend update. What an easy way to share the weekend and to find new blogs.

Friday:
Jeremy and his dad are suckers for finding what they call a good deal on trucks. I seriously could not tell you how many trucks have come and gone in the 4 years I've lived in California. Jeremy is always researching all different kinds of trucks; Ford, Dodge, Chevy, Tundra, gas, diesel, etc. They buy something and say "this truck is the ticket" and then it turns out not to be the ticket. Jeremy has flown to Montana to pick up a truck and drive it back here, they've had trucks shipped here from Florida, New York, Wisconsin. It's an obsession! So... they found the new "ticket" in Southern California and Jeremy was nominated to fly down Saturday to pick it up. Needless to say, our Friday was very low-key since he had to get up at 4:30 AM to get ready to go to the airport.

Saturday:
Since Jeremy was gone for most of the day, I called my friend Lacey to see if she wanted to go to Target and of course she did. Neither one of us really needed anything, but who doesn't love going to Target for no reason. It took all my willpower to steer clear of the clothes, accessories and shoes. While walking through the food aisles, I realized that wine & bread are in the same aisle. This really excited me and I said (rather loudly), "Wine & bread in the same aisle?!? Jesus was here!!!". Lacey and I laughed so hard for about 5 minutes.
Jeremy's mom had knee surgery on Friday, so Saturday evening I cooked dinner for my in-laws. Jeremy finally made it back with the truck around 7 and we had leftovers for dinner and relaxed on the couch.

Sunday:
It was a gorgeous 85 and sunny day, so we decided to head to Sonoma for lunch at The Red Grape, a nice walk around the square and some wine and cheese tasting. It was a perfect afternoon. Sunday evening, we played cards with Jeremy's parents.

It was a nice, relaxing weekend. But... I'm looking forward to some party rocking with Randy & Christina (brother-in-law and sister-in-law) this weekend. They will be here Wednesday night - Sunday afternoon and we have some fun stuff planned. I am so excited!!!

Hope everyone had a great weekend!
