How We Met

After reading Kristen's blog post today, I realized that I don't have an "Our Love Story" or "How We Met" section on here. So, I decided I would share this story with you now.

Jeremy and I met February 16, 2008 at a bar/dance club. Yes, I met my husband at a bar. My mom always told me that I would not meet the man I was going to marry at a bar. Yes, I have made her eat her words a few times. She even admitted this in her speech at our wedding. So don't always believe people when they tell you that you can't meet a good man at a bar. However, this doesn't mean that you should just marry any man you meet at a bar and it doesn't mean that all guys at the bar are nice guys. Believe me, I dated my fair share of not-so-nice guys that I had probably met at a bar. I just got lucky that this one guy I met at a bar was a nice guy. *How many times can I say "at a bar"?*

Anyway, back to how we met. I was out with some friends for my friend Heather's birthday. I wasn't feeling too well, so I was actually thinking about leaving. I was standing by the bar talking to some friends when I saw two guys and one girl walk in. One of the guys and the girl went out to dance leaving the other guy standing there alone. He looked so bored and lonely, so me being the outgoing person I am decided to go talk to him. I walked up to him and gave him the best pick up line ever, "You look bored". Seriously, how creative am I? Apparently, he thought it was a good pick up line, because we started talking and kept talking the rest of the night. At the end of the night, he asked for my phone number and I told him I was the text messaging queen. He did not abide by the 48 hour man rule for calling a girl, he text me that night. Later, I found out he hadn't really texted much before that, but since I was the texting queen he learned to text real quick.

The next day, he was working (he was a commercial pilot at the time) and I was at my grandparents for a family dinner. We text back and forth during all of his stops (he flew one of the 19 passenger planes from Missouri to Arkansas to Texas and back to Missouri). I was texting him about all the yummy food I was having at my grandparents and he told me he was having Taco Bell, to which I responded "That shit will be flying out your ass in .2". Really?! Did I really just say that after knowing the guy for less than 24 hours. Yes, I sure did. He will tell you now that he already knew he was going to love me just from that statement.

So, that's how we met. His proposal was actually pretty amazing, maybe I will share that story sometime too.

That's what I've always been...

Friday morning, I got a text from my friend Art, who I've talked about here.

Above is the picture message I got from Art. To which I responded, what the heck? And our conversation went on about how he couldn't believe I didn't remember this. Apparently, I drew this picture for him in high school. This girl was supposed to be his girlfriend and for some reason I named her Shitface. I have no idea why. I guess I've just always been a little crazy and had a very active imagination. So, I proceeded to laugh about this all day Friday and the conversation with Art went on.

And that's most of the rest of the conversation that kept me laughing all day.

Art and I can have some pretty serious conversations and then we can also have some very silly conversations. We've been friends since kindergarten and I wouldn't trade our relationship for the world.

Also, I realize there is a gun pointing at Art's name. No, that does not mean I want to shoot or kill Art. It just means I think he's a badass!

Weekend Snippets

This weekend was a relaxing, but fun one! Friday night, we went to Lagunitas with Jeremy's friend Dave and his new fiance, Steph. We used to hang out with Dave and his ex-girlfriend Beatrice quite a bit, but we hadn't hung out with Dave since they broke up over 2 years ago. I absolutely love Steph and think they are a perfect match! His proposal, oh was it sweet! He took her skydiving for her birthday and on the ground where she landed was a sign that said, "Steph, will you marry me?" He jumped first, so he was down on the ground on one knee with the ring. So...freaking...sweet!!! And they got it all on video. Sadly, I have no pictures from Friday night.

Saturday, we spent the day with Jeremy's parents. We went to breakfast, ran a bunch of errands, went to see Savages, drank some wine and played some cards.

What do 30, 35 and 58 year olds do at Costco? Throw angry bird stuffed animals at each other and scream, "ANGRY BIRDS!!!"
Swinging at Lowe's while waiting for Jeremy's dad to find some imaginary cart.
Can someone please buy all this stuff for me and decorate my backyard like this? Is this not the perfect backyard oasis?
Buddy got to go on his first outing to Tractor Supply Company. Everyone loved him there and he had a great time running all over the store.

Sunday, we went to lunch with Jeremy's parents, ran a bunch of errands and then played more cards. Oh, and we also had some Coldstone ice cream!

What did you all do over the weekend? Anything super fun and exciting?

It's Friday

It's Friday and I wish I was more excited about it. I've had a freaking headache for two days that seems to be taking up permanent residency! Anyone have any miracle cures for headaches?

There are many reasons why I love my husband, but I'm just going to share one of those reasons with you now. After Jeremy got home from work last night, he said, "When I woke up this morning, I got really excited thinking that it was Monday and we would get to watch another episode of The Bachelorette." So this either makes him really gay or really awesome. I'm gonna go with really awesome!!! I love that my husband will pretty much watch anything I want to watch and he's not ashamed to say he enjoys it.

Since I have this massive headache and I'm running out of interesting things to say, I am just going to link up with The Bargain Blonde for Friday Favorites

Kenra Dry Shampoo is definitely my favorite hair product right now. I bought this in hopes of not washing my hair every single day like I had been doing. Now, I use this every single day even if I washed my hair. It gives my hair such great texture and body. And it smells amazing!!!
Ahhhhh... Gucci Rush, I seriously LOVE this stuff! I found this amazing perfume about 6 years ago and it was love at first sniff! A few years ago, I was told that it was discontinued. I searched and searched and searched for a perfume that I liked and couldn't find anything that compared to my love for Gucci Rush. Last Christmas, we were at Sephora and guess what I found?!? You got it, Gucci Rush. My life is complete again!

Have I mentioned how much I love Essie Turquoise and Caicos?!? This is definitely my favorite summer color. I keep trying to paint my nails a different color, but I always come back to this.

White Strawberry-Lemon Sangria, so refreshing!!!

Ingredients
2 lemons, thinly sliced
1 apple, cored and sliced
2 cups strawberries, sliced
1 750 ml bottle white wine, I use Chardonnay

Preparation
1. Add lemon slices, then apples, then strawberries to a large pitcher
2. Pour the wine and the rum on top
3. Cover and place in the refrigerator for a few hours
4. Add lemon-lime soda
5. ENJOY!!!

Happy Friday! I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!

Happy 4th Bang Bang!!!

On the fourth of July four years ago, my friend Jolie said Happy 4th bang bang to every single person we saw. Now, it's all I think of when I think of the 4th. So, I hope everyone had a happy 4th bang bang! I know I sure had a great day. We had friends over for a BBQ. The day was full of red and blue jello shots, hamburgers and hot dogs, beer pong and fireworks.

How did you celebrate America?

Scarf or a Head Wrap?

I've been seeing head wraps everywhere. I didn't really want to spend $15-$20 on one if I wasn't sure if I would actually like it, so I decided to use a $7 scarf I got from Ross. I am kind of in love with this look now. It's such an easy way to add a pop of color and it's great for days you don't wash your hair.

Here are a few head wraps I'm lusting over right now:

I really wish I had this red, white & blue one for the 4th tomorrow.

What do you guys think of head wraps? Where are some of your places to shop for head wraps and accessories?

In other news, last Tuesday I posted about a 30 day workout challenge. I'm proud to say that I've completed the workout every day since starting last Monday! The first few days were brutal, but it's getting a lot easier to make it through all three sets now. I took bust, waist, hips, arms and legs measurements before starting the challenge. I'm not sharing those measurements, but I will share that I have lost a quarter of an inch off all measurements. Woohoo!!!

Also, have you entered Morgan's giveaway at Momma to Binks&Bubble? If not, what are you waiting for?

Sorry for all the randomness today, but I had a lot to share!

Date Night

First off, let's talk about this adorable tunic I'm wearing here! I got this little gem from Sugar Lips and I am absolutely in LOVE with it. I got so many compliments on the whole outfit.  I saw one of the owners of my favorite local boutique and she said, "You look pretty. Really pretty actually!". I wasn't sure how to take that, do I not usually look pretty at all? So, I just decided to take it as a compliment. In all honesty, I did feel pretty. I love the way this tunic fits and looks. I will definitely be shopping at Sugar Lips again! Want this tunic for yourself? It can be found here
Friday night, Jeremy and I decided to have a little date night. It had been so long since we had went on a date, just the two of us. We headed to one of our favorite Italian restaurants, Cafe Giostra, here in town. We both love Italian and we had a coupon for buy one entree and two drinks and get an entree free. You can't beat having a coupon. After dinner, we headed downtown to the wine bar, La Dolce Vita. La Dolce Vita is one of my favorite places in town. Behind the bar, is a brick wall that they play classic movies on. We split a couple half carafes and then walked over to the movie theater to see Ted. We spent so much time at the wine bar that we got to the movie 10 minutes before it started. Bad idea! We ended up in the second row in the middle of a bunch of teenagers. Between the stupid teenage conversations I was hearing and my neck hurting from being in the second row, I definitely felt my age. Anyway... Ted was freaking hilarious! If you like stupid humor (which I obviously do), I definitely recommend seeing this movie.
