Friday's Letters

Happy Friday!!! 

Dear Brian... Thank you for being the amazing man that you are. You have turned my life around and I thank you every day for this. It's such a great feeling to look at you and feel so much love in my heart. Dear Amy Schumer... your stand-up is HILARIOUS, however, your show "Inside Amy Schumer" has disappointed us a little. You better be awesome tonight! Dear Taylor Swift... I cannot wait to "dance like I'm 22" at your concert tomorrow. For the most part, I have loved you since "Tim McGraw". You lost me there for a little while, but your newest album "Red" is amazing! Dear Bachelor/Bachelorette... why must you wait until next January to be on again?!? I'm certainly going to miss Monday night wine/Bachelor date nights. Dear weekend... you're gonna be a busy one. Here's hoping I can find some time to relax.  Also, if you have the chance please got here and vote for Tanya. I've known this family most of my life. They are an amazing family and have endured many hardships and losses. Tanya definitely deserves this vacation. It only takes a minute of your time. Thanks! 

Friday... Oh how I love thee

Friday... I seriously love you! Where have you been all my life?! 

For some reason, I have been over this work week since Monday. It's been a busy week and I'm exhausted!!! 
Monday, I went to my first Chicago White Sox game. We lost, but it was still really fun! At least the two runs we scored were home runs, so I got to see some fireworks (and we had great seats). 

Tuesday, we went to Goose Island brewpub for dinner and drinks with Brian's sisters and their significant others. It was a great time! We are quite the rowdy bunch! At one point, Brian threw his sister's sock across the room. Yes, we are those people! 
Wednesday, I had a work happy hour at ZED451. I am pretty much in love with that place now! The ambiance was so cool, the appetizers were amazing and the drinks were delicious! Also, I have the best co-workers, so it was really fun getting to hang out with them outside of the office. 
Thursday, I was very productive after work. I cleaned the apartment, went to a super fun fitness class called WERQ and did laundry. 
Tonight, we have dinner with one of our favorite couples at Wasabi Cafe. It's All You Can Eat sushi for $20.95 and BYOB, what more can you ask for? 
I've been super motivated to workout since getting my Polar FT4 watch, but more on that next week!

I'm a big kid now....

For the past few months, I have been searching and searching for a job. I had a few interviews right after moving here and I even got one job offer, but I just didn't feel like it would have been a good fit (plus it was about an hour commute). Let me tell ya, the commute here is RIDICULOUS! I was nannying at a house about nine miles from here and it was taking me 45 minutes to an hour to get there. So after commuting to these interviews and the nanny job, I decided I was only going to look for jobs a couple miles from the apartment or downtown where I could take the train. I'm loving this public transportation stuff! 

Last Friday, I had an interview at a company downtown. The building is right off one of the train stops and also about 1/2 a mile from Brian's work, so I was already pretty excited about the idea of working there. I interviewed with two different people and one of them said twice that they felt like the interview went really well, but they still had some interviews set up. I felt so comfortable in this office and talking to the people that I immediately knew this was the job I wanted. I left the interview and text Brian "I WANT THIS JOB!" We were both glad it seemed to go so well and that I was so excited about it, but I didn't want to get my hopes up. They told me they were hoping to have it narrowed down by the end of next week to the beginning of next. I still applied for jobs every day, just in case. 

Wednesday, I got an email from the company saying I was and strong candidate and asked if I could give them references to call. I immediately responded with two professional references, a personal reference and a reference letter from the owner of the previous company I worked for. A couple of hours later, both my professional references told me they had been called. I was SOOOOOO excited, but still very nervous. Brian kept telling me I got the job and he said he thought they were gonna call after 2 pm the next day with an offer. I wanted to believe him, but also didn't want to be too optimistic. 

Yesterday, I knew it was going to be a LONG day waiting and hoping they would call. At about 2:50 pm, I suddenly had a voicemail (no idea why the phone didn't ring). I checked the voicemail and it was the guy I interviewed with asking me to give him a call. I called back and no answer, so I left a voicemail. I decided I was going to call back at 3:15 if he hadn't called back by then. At about 3:10, he called back! He said they thought the interview went well and they would like to make me an offer!!!! He made the offer, I of course accepted right on the spot!!! I officially accepted and signed the offer this morning. You are looking at the new Administrative Assistant at GreenTarget!!!! I'm so excited and feel like a big kid with a big kid job in a HUGE building downtown. Brian said I'm a city girl now, but I will always be a country girl at heart! You can take the girl out of the country, but you can't take the country out of the girl, right?!?

Interview Attire

I didn't realize how hard it was going to be to find a job here. I feel like I keep applying and applying and rarely get an email or call. This week however, I had a phone interview yesterday and am on my way downtown for an interview right now. I also have an interview lined up for Monday! Wish me luck! 

Yesterday, I went out shopping for a black blazer and the only one I found that I really liked was $45 at Kohl's. I really debated getting it, but after much searching through the sale racks I found the whole outfit pictured above (minus shoes) for $45. Score!!! 

Please say a little prayer or cross your fingers that I find something soon!

Friday's Favorites Summer Edition

Little Big Town's newest single Pontoon just screams summer!!! "Reach your hand down into the cooler... Don't drink it if the mountains aren't blue... Try to keep it steady as you recline on your black intertube" Seriously, how hard is it to get on those damn intertubes and to stay on them?!? Especially after a few drinks.

 Anything off the grill! I love summer time BBQ's. Hamburgers, hot dogs, brats, steak, chicken, corn, potatoes, mmmm... my mouth is watering just thinking of biting into a big, juicy steak! 

Favorite Summer Activity

Hanging out by any body of water, even Kaiden and Kenna's kiddie pool. Ocean, lake, river, pool, slip n slide; you name it, I love it! 

I just love summer! Fourth of July celebrations, BBQ's with friends, laying out in the sun, sangria, going out on the boat. I just LOVE LOVE LOVE summer!

It's Friday

It's Friday and I wish I was more excited about it. I've had a freaking headache for two days that seems to be taking up permanent residency! Anyone have any miracle cures for headaches? 

There are many reasons why I love my husband, but I'm just going to share one of those reasons with you now. After Jeremy got home from work last night, he said, "When I woke up this morning, I got really excited thinking that it was Monday and we would get to watch another episode of The Bachelorette." So this either makes him really gay or really awesome. I'm gonna go with really awesome!!! I love that my husband will pretty much watch anything I want to watch and he's not ashamed to say he enjoys it. 

Since I have this massive headache and I'm running out of interesting things to say, I am just going to link up with The Bargain Blonde for Friday Favorites. 

Kenra Dry Shampoo is definitely my favorite hair product right now. I bought this in hopes of not washing my hair every single day like I had been doing. Now, I use this every single day even if I washed my hair. It gives my hair such great texture and body. And it smells amazing!!! 

Ahhhhh... Gucci Rush, I seriously LOVE this stuff! I found this amazing perfume about 6 years ago and it was love at first sniff! A few years ago, I was told that it was discontinued. I searched and searched and searched for a perfume that I liked and couldn't find anything that compared to my love for Gucci Rush. Last Christmas, we were at Sephora and guess what I found?!? You got it, Gucci Rush. My life is complete again! 

 Have I mentioned how much I love Essie Turquoise and Caicos?!? This is definitely my favorite summer color. I keep trying to paint my nails a different color, but I always come back to this. 

White Strawberry-Lemon Sangria, so refreshing!!! 

Ingredients

2 lemons, thinly sliced

1 apple, cored and sliced

2 cups strawberries, sliced 

1 750 ml bottle white wine, I use Chardonnay

1/2 cup white rum

4 cups lemon-lime soda, I use Sprite Zero

Preparation

1. Add lemon slices, then apples, then strawberries to a large pitcher

2. Pour the wine and the rum on top

3. Cover and place in the refrigerator for a few hours

4. Add lemon-lime soda 

5. ENJOY!!!

Dear Weather: Thank you so much for the gorgeous weekend coming up! Friday 82, Saturday 83 and Sunday 78, that's my kind of spring weather!

Dear Husband: Thanks so much for indulging in my love of sappy romantic movies and taking me on a date to see The Lucky One tonight. Can't wait!

Dear Mom: I know you are completely stressed out right now, but just have faith in God that he will help you overcome this. I love you, mommie dearest!

Dear Sun Drop commercial girl: You better watch out, I just might take your spot! LinDeezy in the house. Haha! Yeah, buddy! I may or may not have wanted to "Drop it like it's hot" on my morning run. Wouldn't you love to see a girl running down the street droppin it like it's hot?!

Dear Tresh: My dearest Tresh the Dish, I miss you more than you know. Thanks for the fun, sweet conversation last night. You're always the best at giving me an ego boost. Roommates forever!

Dear blog friends: Thanks so much for all the sweet, funny comments and emails! Nothing makes my day more than a comment/email from you amazing blog friends!

Hello, Friday! I've been waiting for you!

Ah, finally Friday! Is anyone else as excited for Friday as I am? The fact that it is Friday the 13th isn't even getting me down!

Things I'm looking forward to this weekend/upcoming week: 

1. My dinner date at Olive Garden with my gorgeous friend, Alisha. I'm soooo ready for a carb overload, a glass of wine and some good girl talk. You just can't beat girls nights! 

Me, Becca and Alisha - Scenario: The look you would have if someone told you Team Jacob was better than Team Edward. Ha! 

2. Dinner at Cheesecake Factory and our camp in tomorrow night with Ashley and Daniel (otherwise known as Smashley and Chewing Boy). And yes, I said camp in, not camp out. We are going to have a sleepover in the living room, complete with camping chairs, sleeping bags and a cooler. We might even make a fire in the fireplace and make s'mores!

3. Coffee date on Sunday with my friend, Lacey. I have an addiction to coffee! I can't get enough of it! The caffeine doesn't do much for me, but I just love the warm feeling it gives me inside. I was talking to a friend about coffee the other day and he said coffee is like a good hug. I couldn't agree with that more. 

4. I am so excited to get my headwrap and necklace order from the lovely Morgan at Momma to Binks&Bubble. If you haven't checked out her shop, Adie's Lovelies, you should head on over right now and check it out. She makes some seriously cute stuff and even does custom orders all while juggling two kids and a hubby. I don't know how she does it! 

Those are a few of the upcoming things I'm excited for. I'm ready for a good weekend filled with friends and laughter! I hope y'all have a FABULOUS weekend!!!
