Goodbye 20's, Hello 30... and VEGAS!!!

I have no idea what happened to the context of this post! I guess that's what I get for trying to blog while riding in the car. Anyway... I will be posting pictures from our Vegas trip sometime this week.

Good friends are hard to come by

Last night I was texting my friend Meggan and at the end of the conversation we both said it is so nice that no matter how long it has been since the last time we talked we can always pick up right where we left off. Those are the best kind of friendships. The ones that it doesn't matter how often you see each other, how often you talk, how different your lives might be, you will always be friends. When we were younger, best friends came and went. One week, so and so was your best friend and then the next week it was someone completely different. I do still have some childhood friends that I know we will always be friends, but most of the friendships I cherish the most are people I met after high school. Meggan is one of those friends. We lived together our sophomore year of college and have been friends ever since. She lives in Arkansas with her husband and little boy. No matter how many miles there are between us, no distance is too far for our friendship.

First, I should probably tell you a story from back when we lived together. One day, I did something (I have no idea what is was now) and was so proud of myself. I excitedly yelled out, "I did it! I did it!" Meggan says to me, "Good job! Do you want a medal or a cookie?" I thought about it for a minute and then said, "cookie!" Meggan looks at me with a straight face and says, "Figures fatty!!!". She said the look on my face was priceless.

And now here is a bit of our conversation last night:

Me: Thanks Bacon! I can always count on your for encouragement. Well, unless I want a cookie and you call me a fatty! Lol

Meggan: Rotfl! Consider that my form of motivational speaking! Lol. See? I've always been destined to be a therapist.

Me: Destined to help people feel self conscious about themselves! That way you can charge them to talk about their emotional damage! Haha!

Meggan: That would be genius! Why didn't I think of that sooner?? Besides... I wouldn't charge you! My advice to you is all free. Lol!

Me: Sometimes unwanted, but always free!!!

Great conversations with great friends... PRICELESS!!!

May the odds be ever in your favor

Who else is super excited to see the movie?!?
Have a great weekend and may the odds be ever in your favor!

The Last Thing Thursdays #3

I'm linking up again with Jenna at The Life of the Wife. Thanks again Jenna for making me blog at least once a week for three consecutive weeks!

The Last Thing I....
Took a Picture of:
My cute little fur baby, Peanut. Doesn't he look so sweet?

Bought:
The perfect pair of mint skinny jeans! And the best thing about them, they were $18 at Ross!!!
Food I pinned on Pinterest:
Raw cookie dough bites. They sound pretty delicious and are healthy! I might be making these to put in the cooler for the 9 hour drive to Vegas next week.

Cried At:
Not gonna lie, the last thing I cried at was One Tree Hill last night. I started watching OTH about 5 years ago after a friend told me I looked like Sophia Bush. I watched one episode just to see who she was and was hooked. I made Jeremy buy me Seasons 1-4 (the ones I hadn't seen) so I could catch up. I am so sad this is the last season.
Drooled Over:
Anything lace! I am in LOVE with anything lace. Shirts, shorts, dresses... you name it, I love it!
Felt Like a Nerd For:
Being so ridiculously excited every time a preview for The Hunger Games comes on. I wish I was going to the midnight premiere, but I think I am going to have to wait until Saturday afternoon. I really hope the movie is as good as the book!
Crafted:
A picture frame for my friend, Lacey. I love making these frames and have thought about trying to sell them, but then I think that would take the fun out of making them as gifts for friends.

Peanut Butter Reese's Cup Cookies (Heaven)

I recently posted a picture of some cookies I made and a couple people asked for the recipe, so I figured I would share it with the blog world.

The peanut butter cookie recipe is my grandma's recipe and I just added a little twist with the reese's cups.  Who doesn't like peanut butter and chocolate?!?

Ingredients:
1 cup shortening
1 cup creamy peanut butter
1 cup sugar
1 cup brown sugar
2 cups flour
2 eggs
1 Tbsp milk
1 tsp soda
3/4 tsp salt
1 bag miniature reese's cups

1. Preheat oven to 350
2. Mix all of the ingredients in a large mixing bowl
3. Grease a mini muffin pan
4. Roll dough in a small ball and put in muffin pan (filled about 3/4 full)
5. Bake for 10-12 minutes
6. While the cookies are baking, unwrap the reese's cups.
7. Take out of the oven and push a miniature reese's cup in each one

Warning: This recipe makes about 72 cookies and they are HIGHLY addictive!!! Enjoy!

Saturday was a cookie baking, home-brewed beer drinking, St. Pats party day.
Thankfully, I have only eaten 3 of these
The Carter's home brewed stout
Darling MaryBeth
Sunday was breakfast with the in-laws, shopping with the MIL (where I found the perfect pair of mint colored skinnies), coffee with a friend and dinner and cards with the in-laws.
Lumberjacks does not mess around!
Delicious biscuits and gravy

Hope everyone had a wonderful weekend!!!

The Last Thing Thursdays #2

For the second week in a row I am linking up with Jenna @ The Life of the Wife. Two weeks in a row... That means I have blogged at least twice in this last week. Go me!

The Last Thing I....

Sang:
Probably some silly song I made up about my dogs and cats. But the last actual song I remember singing is Salt N' Pepa's "Let's Talk About Sex". No lie! I have no idea where it even came from since I probably haven't heard that song in a good 10 years. I was cleaning out my coffee cup and realized I was white girl rapping, "But she was mad and sad and feeling bad... thinking about the things that she never had... no love, just sex followed next with a check and a note that last night was dope, dope, dope..." So then I proceeded to white girl rap and dance all over my kitchen. It was a great start to my morning.

Ate:
I've been sickly most of this week, so I haven't been eating much. I did just chug down some TheraFlu though.

Pinned:
I have been slacking on Pinterest this week. I never thought I would be sick enough to not want to Pin. Something is really wrong with me!
Watched on TV:
Will & Grace re-runs. No matter how many times I've seen the episode, I still watch and laugh. How can you not love Will, Grace, Karen and Jack?
Bought & Loved:
My birthday dress from Ooh La Loft. I can't wait to wear it in Vegas!!!
Wished I Had the Money to Buy:
The Georgina Bed set from Anthropologie. Actually, any bed set from Anthropologie would do!
Laughed At:
My friend Trish and I's gchat conversation. There's nothing better than an inside joke with a friend. :)

Now that I've done my at least once a week blogging, I think I will take my sick self back to bed. Hope everyone has a wonderful Thursday!

Sneak Peek!!!

Last weekend, I had a photo shoot with my friend, Katrina. She is working on building her photography business and I wanted a unique present for Jeremy's 35th birthday, so I decided to do a little boudoir photo shoot. She has sent me about 20 (out of 350) pictures, and I am so happy with how they turned out. I thought I would share one of my favorites so far.

Weekend

I wish I could say I had a super exciting weekend, but this weekend was just not one of those weekends. I must say, it is nice to have a relaxing weekend sometimes. I work from home, so usually by the time the weekend comes around I am ready to get out of the house!

Friday night, Jeremy and I went to Applebee's for happy hour and then went to see the movie Silent House. It was TERRIBLE! It wasn't scary at all and I had it figured out in the first 15 minutes. I did enjoy seeing what the Olsen twins would look like if they didn't weigh 90 pounds.

Saturday, Jeremy worked on his truck and I read the second book of The Hunger Games trilogy. I am in LOVE with this trilogy. I've had the first two books downloaded on my Ipad since November, but didn't start them until last Wednesday. I wasn't sure if they would be the type of books that I like, but I am hooked! Saturday night, we went to dinner at a new restaurant in town with Jeremy's dad. It was a nice, relaxing Saturday.

Sunday, I had a super secret (from Jeremy) photo shoot with my friend Katrina. She is working on building her photography business and I wanted to do something fun for Jeremy's 35th birthday, so we did a boudoir photo shoot. I was so nervous at first, but after a few pictures, outfit changes and of course a few glasses of wine, I was having a great time! I am so excited to see all of the pictures. I may share some later and ask which ones y'all like best for the book I am going to make Jeremy.

Hope everyone had a great weekend!

The Last Thing Thursdays

Since I am so terrible at blogging, I decided maybe doing a weekly link up might make me blog a little more regularly. Well, at least once a week. :) Thanks to Jenna at The Life of the Wife for helping me blog at least once a week.

The Last Thing I.....

Read:
I purchased The Hungers Games on my Ipad about 4 months ago and FINALLY started it last night.
Pinned:
Mexican Chicken Casserole. It looks super yummy and is pretty healthy! That's a win, win in my book! I am seriously loving all the recipes on Pinterest.
You can follow me on Pinterest here
Blog Post I Read:
Sydney's (The Daybook) Awkward and Awesome Thursday! Her blog is one of the first blogs I started reading religiously. If you haven't read her blog, be sure to check it out!
 TV Show I Watched:
American Idol! I admit that I am highly addicted to reality tv competitions. The Bachelor, The Voice, American Idol, Dancing with the Stars, So You Think You Can Dance... It's a sad addiction, but my husband and I are very entertained by them.
Candy I Ate:
I'm not actually sure what the last candy I ate was. I've been exercising and dieting and haven't been having much candy lately. Gotta look good for the big 3-0 this month! Since I can't remember the last candy I ate, I will just go with my favorite: gummy bears!!!
Did For Someone Else:
I sent my mom a Valentine's box full of goodies. My mom doesn't really have the money to buy cookies and candy, so my mother-in-law and I baked some cookies and filled a box with cookies and candy.
Baked:
Peanut butter cookies with reese's cups in the middle. They were sooooo good! I used my grandma's peanut butter cookie recipe and added the reese's cup.
Bought & Loved:
TOMS ballet flats!!! They were a belated Valentine's present. I have been looking all over for them, but every store was sold out in my size and they are back ordered online. I was out shopping with my mother-in-law this weekend and one store actually had them in my size. I was so excited!!!

Have a great Thursday! It's almost the weekend, YAY!!!
